WELCOME TO VERSE
We are not a traditional restaurant and we do things slightly different here at Verse. Doors open from 6:00pm where you are welcomed to join us for a pre-dinner drink before our food service commences. As we deliver our restaurant offering in a tasting menu style for the entire restaurant (excluding chefs counter) we aim for our first course to arrive at around 7:30pm. Pudding finishing around 9:30pm allowing you enough time to enjoy a night cap! This is roughly a two hour dining experience so please allow enough time to enjoy your evening.
Chefs Counter : Alternatively please join us on our counter for a more relaxed front row seat of the action and dine from our small plates menu. Seats are limited as we only have seven so book early to avoid any dissapointment.
Verse is a modern, quietly refined restaurant in the heart of the South Hams, where seasonal British ingredients meet the warmth and spirit of the Mediterranean. Led by Paul Hegley, the kitchen focuses on thoughtful, ingredient-first cooking — dishes that feel elegant without losing their sense of warmth and honesty.

The restaurant takes its cues from music, poetry, and the Devon landscape. Menus are designed to unfold gently, like chapters in a story, creating a dining experience that feels expressive, considered, and memorable. The setting is relaxed but elevated, with an emphasis on craft, character, and genuine hospitality.
Alongside the main dining room sits a more informal pintxos bar — a place to drop in for small, vibrant bites, seasonal plates, and a drinks list that rewards curiosity. It’s lively, easy-going, and built around the joy of sharing food with friends.
